​Explore the very origins of Opus One with this exceptional opportunity to immerse yourself in the worlds of our founders, Robert Mondavi and Baron Philippe de Rothschild. Forty-eight years ago, these two legends of the wine industry came together in the Baron’s private rooms at the Château Mouton Rothschild to discuss the idea of a collaboration together in Napa. Within two hours, they agreed to partner together and create a singular wine of the highest quality that would capture the bold terroir of Napa while being crafted with the traditions and restraint practiced in Bordeaux.


Three couples will journey from Paris to Bordeaux aboard France’s high-speed TGV train, where you will be welcomed by a private driver for the scenic transfer to the Médoc. There, Maison d’Estournel awaits, offering refined accommodations overlooking the vineyards of Saint-Estèphe. Relax in the peaceful surroundings, read in the quiet library, lounge on the terrace, or release the stress of travel with a spa experience, and enjoy dinner on-site that evening.


The next day you will visit Château Clerc Millon, with its distinctively modern, wooden-clad structure, designed by architect, Bernard Mazières, featuring world-class cellars and exquisite Far Eastern art displayed throughout its salons. Lunch at the Café Lavinal in Bages will follow. After lunch, visit the legendary Château Mouton Rothchild for a tour of the impressive winery and historic cellars as well as its iconic Museum of the Art of Wine, which includes exploring the collection of original art pieces that have graced the label of each vintage since 1945. Later that evening, you will be hosted by the Rothschild family for an intimate dinner in the dining room at Château Mouton Rothschild paired, of course, with exceptional wines from the estate.


Upon your return to the US, enjoy a weekend in the Napa Valley – lodged at the retreat of Villagio. You will embark on an exclusive, private journey through the iconic and newly transformed Robert Mondavi Winery. Your evening begins with a behind-the-scenes tour of the historic estate, tracing the footsteps of the man who revolutionized American winemaking. The night concludes with an exclusive, chef-curated multi-course dinner. Each dish masterfully paired with exceptional wines and rare library vintages pulled directly from the private cellars. These historic, carefully aged bottles are rarely seen by the public - poured exclusively for you.


Opus One will welcome you the following day for an immersion into our Estate vineyards and cellar. Participate in a masterclass-style tasting experience hosted by our winemaking team, exploring the critical elements in our winemaking process while you taste vintages spanning five decades in the Napa Valley, followed by a vineyard-side lunch at the winery’s “Circle of the Oaks”. After an afternoon at leisure, return to the winery for an elegant reception in the salon, where live entertainment provides the perfect prelude to the evening ahead. Guests will then embark on a seasonal culinary journey, expertly curated and prepared by Executive Winery Chef Sean Koenig. Each dish will be paired with wines from the estates of each of our founders and with selected vintages of Opus One. This evening celebrates the power of collaboration, united by a shared commitment to excellence.
